- size 8 (5.0mm) knitting needles, or size needed to get approx. gauge
- a darning needle

Crown
CO 3 sts, leaving a long tail for seaming.Row 1: k1, kfb, k1
Row 2: p and all even crown rows
Row 3: k1, kfb twice, k1
Row 5: k1, kfb x4, k1
Row 7: k1, kfb x 8, k1
Row 9: k1, *kfb, k1* to last st, k1
Row 11: k1, *kfb, k2* to last st, k1
Row 13: k1, *kfb, k3* to last st, k1
Continue this pattern, increasing one k stitch between kfb, until you have 98 sts.
Row 27 should be: k1, *kfb, k10* to last st, k1.
Continue even in Stockinette stitch until cap measures 7 in. (18 cm) from cast on to working row, ending on a WS (even) row.
Brim
Row 1: k1, *k1, p1* to last st, k1.Row 2: p1, *p1, k1* to last st. p1.
Repeat these two rows 5 times, or to desired length.
BO loosely in pattern.
